A one-day workshop on ‘Gender in the Political Economy of Energy Policy- South Africa and South Asia’ was held at University of Cape Town, South Africa. The workshop was jointly organised by Centre for African Studies (University of Cape Town), Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (University of Twente), the International Gender and Sustainable Energy Network, The Centre for Rural Technology in Nepal and M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation. The workshop participants included team members from Research Area 2 which focuses on the productive uses of energy and Research Area 3 that focused on the Gender and the Political Economy of the Energy Sector. The workshop provided insights on energy policy formulation, implementation, as well as on approaches for developing gender responsive and socially inclusive policies.
