Awareness campaign at Wardha villages for World Toilet Day

Unhygienic defecation practice could eventually lead to communicable diseases like Diarrhea and other illness, and could even result in death.

On World Toilet Day November 19, to create awareness on the 2015 UN theme - 'Toilet and Nutrition', LANSA MSSRF team at Wardha organised an awareness campaign in the Farming System for Nutrition study villages.

The objective of the campaign was to create awareness on construction and use of toilets in FSN villages; as well as on general sanitation and hygiene. Rallies were organized in the villages with slogans on the importance of toilets and hygiene, how to use toilets, consequence of unhygienic defecation, and sanitation in general.

Short films (PSAs) produced by NHRM and UNICEF were screened to create awareness on using toilets. Finally the youth in the villages were divided into two teams to monitor and achieve 100 per cent toilet usage and to stop open defecation.
