LANSA celebrates National Nutrition Week with village community

National Nutrition Week is celebrated every year from September 1 to 7 in India. The main objective of this campaign is to create awareness on the importance of nutrition for health which has far reaching implications on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately national development. The theme for National Nutrition Week 2015 was ‘Better Nutrition: Key to Development’.

Programmes were conducted in schools and Anganwadi centres on the theme 'Iron and Vitamin A deficiency'. Events include cooking nutrition-rich recipes, presentations to the village community on Anemia and Vitamin A. Drawing competitions to sensitize the village school children were also organized.

As many as 250 students, many Anganwadi children and nearly 40 women from Koraput and more than 200 women in Wardha took part in the nutrition week celebrations. This effort helped raise basic awareness on diet and food habits, particularly on Anemia and Vitamin A.
