National Plan of Action for Children in India - A LANSA Policy Brief
The National Policy for Children (NPAC) 2013 adopted by the Government of India in April 2013 adheres to the Constitutional mandate and guiding principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It identifies rights of children under four key priority areas, viz. Survival, Health and Nutrition, Education and Development, Protection, and Participation. The draft NPAC of 2016 highlights the high proportion of children engaged in agriculture, however the Ministry of Agriculture does not however figure as a nodal agency in the policy. LANSA's Policy Brief makes several recommendations for Key Priority Area 1 in the draft National Policy for Children that addresses Survival, Health and Nutrition of children in India.
