Improving agricultural practices enhances nutritive value of harvests

Forest Lanterns is a collection of invited essays on forty-six solutions from solution seekers working on the ground, for improving the nutrition of tribal children from nine states in India. The 'Farm Fresh Blueprint' chapter documents efforts made by M S Swaminathan Research Foundation in improving agricultural practices to enhance the nutritive value of harvests. Written by Ajay Parida and Bhavani RV, the chapter discusses how feasible it is for poor, rural and tribal communities to adopt integrated farming systems in order to address their nutrition needs. It also introduces the ongoing Farming System for Nutrition study in two sites - Wardha district, Maharashtra and Koraput district, Odisha, under the LANSA Research Constorium Programme.
