Affecting change in fragile countries is more art, than science

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) describes persistent fragility as occurring in areas or regions that are “in protracted crisis” (pdf) and characterised by recurrent natural disasters, conflict, persistent food crisis, a breakdown of livelihoods and/or insufficient institutional capacity to respond to the various crises. 

Leveraging agriculture for nutrition in South Asia? Afghanistan?

I was somewhat surprised to be in Afghanistan in June 2014, a country which was new to me before LANSA first took me there. It is the high rate of malnutrition in a predominantly rural economy that makes Afghanistan an important country to LANSA.
