Prakash Shetty who had delivered the first Srikantia Memorial Lecture in 1989 was formally honoured with the award at the annual conference of the Nutrition Society of India in Bengaluru on November 5, 2016. The award was instituted in 1989 by the NSI in memory of Dr Srikantia, a renowned scientist who made outstanding contributions in clinical nutrition, nutritional biochemistry and public health nutrition in India.
